Andy and Rosemary King have formed a consultancy business advising both farmers and stakeholders in the dairy supply chain. We aim to support our clients with tailored solutions that address their particular needs. The advice is backed up by a working life in ruminant nutrition, supply chain management and practical organic dairy farming.
We set up our farming business in 2008. It was initially set up as a 10-year Farm Business Tenancy that was extendable for five years. For us it was a totally new venture, from a standing start we settled down with a herd of 250 organic cows with an objective of sustainable production, producing as much milk as possible from home-grown food. Milk yields constantly stood at just over 8500 litres per cow with 4000 coming from forage. We were selected finalists for the 2019 NMR RABDF gold cup which demonstrated the commitment and quality of work produced by the farm team. The farm was used as a training facility for vet students, and we prided ourselves in developing placement students from agricultural universities. Our farming business finished in 2023 when we surrendered the farm tenancy.
